Mechanical Design Engineer

We are seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer – Software to join our team in Essex.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES
Business Development

  • Support the Applications team with design input for customer enquiries; carry out the appropriate design analysis in line with customer specific requests
  • Provide support for internal customers and external partners on mechanical design for micro-hybrid programmes

Product Development

  • Conduct FE modelling and simulation using Siemens NX Mach 3 Advanced Simulation software to investigate solutions that meet mechanical requirements and to validate mechanical designs
  • Provide technical input to support preparation for project kick-off
  • Provide technical input to mechanical design requirements
  • Carry out mechanical design activities to meet mechanical and system requirements and change requests.
  • Conduct mechanical design evaluation activities and assist with mechanical DFMEA
  • Participate in design reviews and support the mechanical design sign-off process
  • Support functional testing; commissioning and design verification testing of core, customer and concept prototype machines
  • Support the release process for prototypes

Project Management

  • Ensure all mechanical design engineering activities follow CPT development process and procedures, providing technical evidence and maintaining auditable records required to maintain CPT quality management system
  • Support project and resource managers with information on mechanical design and development needs to ensure accurate planning and allocation of resources
  • Provide mechanical design input at team meetings and reviews
  • Provide customers, suppliers and partners with necessary technical information to support customer projects as required

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS / EXPERIENCE / COMPETENCIES

  • Degree qualified FEA engineer with experience of Siemens NX Mach 3 Advanced Simulation
  • Experience with a CFD package and other CAD and PLM systems, e.g. Catia (V5,R19) and Smarteam, also desirable
  • Must be fully competent with Windows and MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel)

Systems Engineer

We are seeking a Systems Engineer to join our team in Essex.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

To work with the Systems Engineering Manager and HPD Sub-system teams to support the development and validation of CPT’s Hybrid Products.

  1. To be responsible for leading system level testing of CPT Hybrid Products as required. This includes test specification, data analysis, reporting and investigation of problems or failures under test.
  2. Coordinate Design Reviews and engineering focused Change Control and Problem Resolution activities to maintain system level control of manufacturing and hardware build standards.
  3. Provide expertise and guidance to the internal product development team and external customers regarding product functional safety and ISO26262 compliance.
  4. To review and analyse automotive industry standards and specifications to assess the conformity of CPT’s Hybrid Products to the market.
  5. To lead the preparation and maintenance of key systems documents, including System FMEA’s and Engineering Validation Plans.

To support the Application Engineering Team in reviewing customer technical specifications and test planning and delivery as required.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS / EXPERIENCE / COMPETENCIES

  • Engineering Degree (1st Class preferred, minimum 2:1) or equivalent level qualification in electrical, electronics, software, control or similar engineering discipline is essential.
  • Communication and team working skills applicable to all levels of organisational structure, both internal and external are essential.
  • Proven technical ability across a wide range of engineering disciplines demonstrated through either academic or industry achievements is essential.
  • Knowledge of the fundamentals of rotating electric machines is essential.
  • Knowledge of best practice testing methods and procedures are essential.
  • Experience of system design methods e.g. Requirements Definition, FMEA is desirable.
  • Engine, powertrain, hybrid systems or other applicable experience is desirable.
  • Knowledge or experience of automotive standard design quality processes (eg. ISO26262, Automotive SPICE, APQP, etc.) is desirable.
  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience.

We are seeking a Development Engineer – Software to join our team in Coventry.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

Business Development

  • Support the Applications team with technical input for customer enquiries; quotations and on-going customer applications support
  • Act as a key point of contact for internal customers and external partners on control systems software for micro-hybrid programmes

Product Development

  • Provide technical input to support preparation for project kick-off
  • Provide technical input to product specifications and strategy requirements
  • Conduct analysis of dynamic systems requirements and investigate solutions to implement the embedded software
  • Support the development of software architecture and communication interface
  • Assist with software compliance documentation eg A-SPICE, IS026262
  • Design and implement the embedded software components to meet specifications or change requests.
  • Develop test plans to validate control systems and software implementations
  • Support the specification and procurement of software tools, test equipment and instrumentation for the development and validation of software
  • Perform unit, functional and integration testing of software
  • Support software release for integration into prototype machines and provide associated control system and software documentation
  • Support functional testing of software on prototype machines
  • Support investigation into control system and software failures and initiate corrective action

Control Systems Software Development

  • Develop models to aid system analysis and control system development and complete software design documentation

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS / EXPERIENCE / COMPETENCIES

Essential

  • Use of C programming language
  • Working knowledge of Matlab and TargetLink

Desirable

  • Batchelors or Masters degree in Electrical or Electronic Engineering
  • Interest in embedded software for automotive application
