We are seeking a Control System/Software Engineer to join our team delivering CO2 reducing technologies. Principal responsibilities will be to develop and validate motor control and application software for the integration of our technologies with our customers' engine management systems for a number of applications.
Controlled Power Technologies is a newly formed company that has acquired the rights to a portfolio of advanced technologies. Our expanding team is focused on delivering CO2 reduction technologies to the Automotive Industry.

Skills/attributes

Development of C code for embedded real-time systems

Use of software lifecycle development tools & processes (e.g. debuggers, configuration management tools).

Use of TargetLink / Matlab for system/software development

Appreciation of low-level hardware issues

Appreciation of serial communications protocols (CAN and LIN)
-
Ability to work with limited supervision
-
Self motivating and a flexible approach to working in small teams.
Qualification/experience
-
Degree level - Computing/Engineering or equivalent
-
Minimum 2 years experience – Automotive is preferred.

Background in Electrical/Electronic Engineering

Experience of C167, ST10, XC microprocessor family or similar desirable
-
Wider knowledge/interest in Automotive Systems & Engineering desirable

Appreciation of Rotating Machines/Electric Motors would be desirable

Key responsibilities
- Key customer interface for engineering team
- Customer requirements capture and documentation
- Planning and execution of customer application activities
- On-site customer engineering support (on travelling basis, non resident)
- Delivery of customer programme deliverables in accordance with prescribed processes

- Mechanical & electrical fabrication & installation
- Excellent general computer skills (automotive specific e.g. CAN desirable)
- Problem diagnosis & resolution
- Excellent written & oral communication skills
- Excellent interpersonal keys and management of relationships
- Self-motivated & flexible, comfortable working in small teams
- Powertrain and vehicle system simulation desirable
- Project planning & management using MS Project
Qualifications/experience
- Degree level in Mechanical/Electrical/Automotive engineering
- Minimum 5 years’ of practical experience in a Powertrain engineering environment
- Thorough understanding of standard engineering quality tools & processes
- Experience of high speed electric machine design & operation preferable
- Experience of powertrain development & control preferable
